After securing an equity investment earlier this year of £462,000, ALeds have been selected as one of this year’s finalists for ‘Best Investment in a High-Growth Manufacturing Business’ in the UK Business Angel’s Association ‘Angel Investment Awards’ 2015.
Back in February 2015, ALeds gained the substantial equity investment through existing shareholders and Angels Den, an online equity crowd funding platform. The funds are being used to support existing product refinement, assist in the development of new products, and to take on new recruits in line with development and growth plans for the company. Progress on such plans have already been made, with the recruitment of an Operations Manager and the launch of lighting control system Proxima™, to name but two examples.
ALeds will attend the Gala Awards Dinner and Ceremony hosted by the UK Business Angels Association in London at the start of July, alongside three hundred other angel and early stage investment players. The awards will be presented on stage by Kiki Loizou, Small Business Editor at the Sunday Times and the evening will provide an opportunity for ALeds and other investees to celebrate their successes.
Managing Director Tristan King was honoured that ALeds had received the nomination, stating that “access to both the Angels’ invaluable knowledge and funding has allowed us to push on as a business and develop new, exciting technologies that will support sustainable and interactive lighting. It is hoped that despite the strengthening euro, the export business for Advanced LEDs will continue to grow”.
