2014 has been a landmark year for ALeds. We launched our latest luminaire range, the Clara™, which includes steet, flood and bay lights. We have also created several new roles, brought production in-house to our own 12,000 sq. ft. facility in Hinckley and achieved almost 50% growth.
Feedback for the Clara™ has been overwhelmingly positive. Building on the successes of the Clipper, designing the Clara™ was a customer lead exercise, facilitating easier installation, maintenance, and flexibility in lighting design. From an engineering standpoint, we managed to increase the efficacy of our Clara™ even further whilst improving the lantern’s thermal dissipation properties.
As we have continued to grow throughout the year we have seen a recruitment drive to add value and diversify the skill set at our team’s disposal. This year has seen us recruit a Graduate Accountant, a Sales and Marketing Technician, a Business Development Manager, a Production Controller and two Electromechanical Assembly Operatives.
In July we moved to our new home, an office and workshop facility unit on the Sketchley Meadows Industrial Estate. This strategic decision allowed us to fully contain our quality systems, create a large scale R&D area and centralising operations have allowed us to improve our service.
We received grant funding from the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership to assist with funding the move to a larger premises and consolidating our fundamental business principles centred on quality and service.
During 2015, Aleds will look to capitalise on its work with strategic clients to achieve at least 50% more growth. To help meet these challenges, we are in the process of securing an equity investment for a potential £525,000 through existing shareholders and Angels Den, an online equity crowd funding platform.
Once the investment is completed, we plan to utilise the funds for capital equipment purchase to support volume of existing products and new product development to remain at the forefront of lighting technology.
A recruitment drive is also on the horizon and it is thought that the investment will create as many as 7 additional local jobs at our facility in 2015.
On behalf of all of us at Aleds we would like to thank you for your ongoing support and we wish you both a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
