Advanced LEDs have provided a Sport England compliant competition level swimming pool design for a leisure centre in Northampton, with the proposed installation due to take place in early 2016.
The design uses a point for point installation and required complex design work to incorporate some of the more challenging architectural elements of the building. The new design, replacing the previous direct and therefore glare-prone design; implements our knowledge of indirect sports lighting techniques gained through our vast experience of designing for similar swimming facilities. As such we have proposed a new Sport England compliant scheme that achieves 308 lux to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for swimmers and lifeguards.
We have proposed the replacement of the outdated 400W fittings with our 250W Clara Flood fittings supplied with specialist glare reducing sports lenses. The design surpasses Sport England required levels of illuminance by achieving 308 lux Eav. The scheme will significantly boost light levels as well as inducing a 43% energy saving providing an annual financial saving of approximately £3,800. From a financial standpoint, the scheme achieves an ROI of 236% and a payback period of 4.24 years.
We have included images of the existing scheme alongside our own lighting designs for the project.
