Advanced LEDs have supplied luminaires to multiple sites for the UK’s largest national gym chain. Their brand new site at Lincoln is the latest to receive an upgrade to the fitness space.
Energy Savings: 72%. Payback Period: less than 18 months
An innovator within the leisure sector, PureGym pioneered by operating 24/7 opening times, offering the ultimate flexibility to their clients. As well as taking advantage of the significant potential energy savings, they wanted to complement progressive branding by utilising the latest lighting technology to foster a comfortable space for their clients to work out in. Such an upgrade to aesthetics can provide a competitive advantage in an increasingly crowded marketplace, where cost is often the key driver behind membership numbers.
Our primary focus was to safeguard clients by ensuring appropriate lighting levels, focusing on glare reduction and maintaining high uniformity levels. We designed a compliant scheme using 75x 50W Clara Bay fittings utilising existing fitting points in order to keep installation costs down. This scheme achieves over 330 lux and 74% uniformity, delivering a bright, attractive environment for both members and staff. The Clara Bay units specified were supplied with a specialist A30 ‘opal’ lens which is designed to eliminate glare when lighting leisure environments.
The scheme should save 65% energy over the incumbent fittings whilst increasing light levels by 57%. Operating 24/7 opening times consequently means that any down time for maintenance can cause disruption for clients of the facility. The 10 year complete warranty supplied on the project, along with 100,000 hour driver and L90@100,000 hour LEDs ensure that maintenance costs and downtime are minimised across the lifetime of the project.
